Get paid to write articles for your favourite magazines and newspapers
I've had my byline appear in a range of digital and print publications!
I felt completely out of my depth contacting editors but Lindy provided helpful and effective pitching advice, which I still refer to each and every week. This helped me realise the real hook within each story idea. Since then, my byline has appeared in a range of new digital and print publications (like Vogue Living, The New York Times and The Sydney Morning Herald) most of which I would have been too scared to pitch without Lindy's strategic advice.
You love the idea of writing articles for magazines and newspapers but ...
You might not know where to begin.
You've been holding onto the dream of writing pieces for your favourite publications.
Maybe you haven't studied journalism or writing, so you're not sure if 'unqualified' writers can break in.
They can.
Or maybe you're a career journalist or PR professional who has always worked in-house but now it's time to go freelance.
You know freelance writing has its own set of rules.
You just don't know what they are.
But you're ready to learn.
You're excited about the possibility of being a freelance writer.
You can imagine what it'd be like to see your name in print and write stories that matter.
It's totally possible to become an in-demand and well-paid freelance writer for publications, even though you may be wondering ...
Can I be a freelance writer without a journalism degree?
Do I have to interview people for the articles I write?
Can writing really be a career, not just a hobby?
Where would I even begin?
Here are the answers ...
You don't need a journalism degree to be a freelance writer, but you do need to know what makes a compelling story, how to pitch editors and write something worth publishing.
There are lots of articles that don't require interviews (like personal essays and opinion pieces). But interviewing people doesn't have to be scary - it's fascinating and easy when you have the right questions, the right equipment and know how.
Freelance writing can start as a hobby but can quickly become your full-time gig. Or it can be a great creative side hustle - your choice!
I've been published by Australian Geographic!
I cannot tell you how excited I was to see my story published in Australian Geographic - such a prestigious publication!
Lindy not only helped me brainstorm publications that might be interested in the story idea, but she also gave some valuable feedback to refine my pitch to a different targeted publication, after the initial pitch was rejected. During the writing process, Lindy was in the background supporting me with encouraging messages.
If you’re lacking confidence with pitching and wondering if you can write for your dream publications, having Lindy’s expertise and insight makes such a difference.
My dream came true!

Frequently asked questions
From the time you enrol you'll have immediate access to all 5 modules (25+ lessons) for a full 12 months so you can begin working through the videos whenever you want.
It's been really important for me to create a super practical course based on my years of experience and up-to-date knowledge of the media industry. I've written for hundreds of Australian and international publications and worked with loads of aspiring writers so I know where you might need extra help or explanation, and the common mistakes that new writers make (and how to avoid them).
This course cuts all the fluff and is the most straightforward and useful way for writers to get their first (and many more!) bylines.
Access to the course is for 12 months from the time the last module is released.
Why 12 months access?
Some online courses have traditionally been lifetime access, but course creators have found that people enrol thinking they have years to go through the material and guess what?
They never complete the course and therefore never get results.
I really want writers to be able to have these skills and knowledge and to get results quickly.
Twelve months is more than enough time for you to work through the course materials and see visible results.
While Write Earn Thrive helps you scale your income by landing high-paying corporate clients, this course teaches you how to break into writing feature articles for magazines or newspapers.
There's no overlap at all with the Write Earn Thrive material because the Foundations of Freelance Writing course is purely focused on learning how to analyse publications, find ideas and craft compelling pitches that editors love so you can write feature articles for magazines and newspapers (and online publications).
If you're an established writer looking to scale to $100K/a year - you can register to watch my free on-demand training and learn more about Write Earn Thrive - https://writeearnthrive.kartra.com/page/training-registration
This course is aimed at people who want to write for magazines, newspapers or online.
Usually you will be new to the writing/journalism industry or you may be an established corporate writer, author, PR professional or in-house journalist who wants to break into feature writing.
When you go to pay and fill in all your details, the conversion will happen once you've paid. It'll be the exchange rate of your banking institution.
I always look at xe.com first to work out the exchange rate, but that's always a little off simply because it depends on your bank's conversion rate and if they charge a currency conversion fee.
If you're keen to know the exact rate, contact the bank associated with your card to find out the current conversion rate.
If you’ve worked through some of the course and haven’t gained any value from it (or just don’t think the course is for you), I’ll happily refund your payment minus a $50 admin fee.
Refunds must be requested within 7 days from purchase.
No refunds are provided after the first 7 days, and I do not provide pro-rata refunds for cancelled accounts. After the initial refund period expires, I will continue to process any remaining payments (if you have selected a payment plan option).
No. Everything you need is provided!
If you're a VIP, I'll be regularly available in our private community (you'll get the details once you enrol) to answer and help with any challenges you're facing. VIPs also have the chance to submit pitches for review and feedback, as well as have questions answered during coaching calls.
All the information and strategies I go through can be used throughout the world. My articles have been published throughout the world, including in the USA, UK, Canada, Singapore and more.
These strategies are based on techniques that I've used but also that my coaching students have used and they've been based in countries such as the USA, Canada, UK, Spain, France and the Philippines.
At the moment the private Foundations of Freelance Writing community is hosted on Facebook. If you are not an active member on Facebook, you can still enrol in the VIP course, but you just won't have access to the online community component.
